Kendra CE Ltd. operating as a major civil engineering subcontractor to Collen Construction carried out new road construction and alterations to existing road layouts and transportation areas at the defunct Jacobs plant at Tallaght.

The roads provide access for heavy plant and transport facilities to the new data centre recently constructed on the site. The site was heavily congested by the presence of existing utilities on the site and by the provision of new services installed as part of the project. 

In particular, a lot of care was required to be exercised due to the presence of “mainline fibre cables” which service the plant. The works, carried out by Kendra, required substantial “out of hours” and weekend works to facilitate the other specialist subcontractors who were key to the functioning of the live data centre.

These works included new drainage layout to control discharge from the paved areas. Approx 1 KM of new road and large transport areas were constructed at a cost of €1.1M
